Our Mission:

“As Iron Sharpens Iron, One Veteran Sharpens Another”

The Iron Freedom Foundation's overall mission is to provide veterans with a support community of like-minded outdoor enthusiasts with the means and the personal confidence necessary to go forth and achieve, not only their goals, but those around them.

Why We’re Different

Like many other non-profit organizations, our veterans are supplied with the necessary provisions to complete our programs.

But this is where we separate ourselves.

Upon completion, all provisions provided remain with the veteran. This grants them full autonomy to recreate the excursion apart from the organization.

“Teach a man to fish and you've fed him for a lifetime.”

Our Impact

Since our founding in 2017 we have been fortunate to have donors and partners who have believed in the healing powers of the great outdoors, believed in the powers of community and family, and believed in the mission of The Iron Freedom Foundation. Through their support, we have been able to impact the lives of veterans by giving them the tools, community, and knowledge to enjoy all nature has to offer.

Our Programs

The Iron Freedom Foundation operates three community-driven programs that immerse our veterans in the healing powers of the outdoors. Each program has its own unique aspects that are tailored to have the biggest impact on the individual veteran.

Testimonials

July 2021

“Seeing a transformation in combat veterans and showing them some peace in the outdoor community through fly fishing, is an active service that you cannot put a price on.”

“The trip was exactly what I needed. At that point in my life, I was battling depression related to PTSD. The VA's solution was to prescribe me more medications. What that was doing was having a rubber band effect, making the symptoms of PTSD substantially worse. I had a great time on the trip, But more importantly, it lit a fire. Since the trip, I have thoroughly camped the entire southwestern part of the United States and am currently medication-free and the happiest I’ve ever been.”
